HappyTree is moving!

Dear HappyTree Community,

You’ve probably heard me and other teachers at HappyTree talk about the Law of Impermanence (anicca) in class – how everything is always changing and how challenges, when embraced, are golden opportunities for growth and evolution.

Well, now is the time for us to put into practice what we teach. Recently, we learned that the demolition plans for the building adjacent to HappyTree have been approved, and that over the next year-and-a-half, 4014-4022 Sainte Catherine Street West will be transformed from a vacant building into three floors of commercial space, two towers of rental apartments and three floors of underground parking.

At the same time that we found out about the imminent construction next door, our landlord informed us that he is selling our beautiful HappyTree space as part of his retirement plans.

In light of these two events, we have chosen to be proactive and move out of our current location by the end of April, 2018.

We are happy for the positive long-term impact to the neighbourhood that the construction will bring and are very grateful for the decade we’ve had in our current cozy spot. Though we are sad to be leaving, the construction, noise, pollution and the rerouting of traffic in front of our building will make it a little easier for us to accept the new changes that have come our way. We feel as though this is Divine timing in action.

The staff and I are seeing this as an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and get excited for a new beginning. We agreed that what makes HappyTree special is not limited to a single space: it is an attitude and a belief. We stand for community, for being genuine and for inspiring the best in everyone… and that can be transported anywhere!

Therefore, what was most important to me was finding a new home on short notice that aligns with our energy and values.

So, let me take you back for a moment to 2007 just a few short months before opening HappyTree. I was taking my Kundalini Teacher Training with Shabad Saroop Singh Khalsa at Equilibrium. So much of what we now recognize as “HappyTree” was inspired there: from our homemade Yogi Tea, to the gong, to the Yogi Bhajan quotes on our studio wall, and most of all, our Aquarian ideals of inclusiveness, collaboration and mutual upliftment.

Since that time, Equilibrium has expanded into a bustling centre with three beautiful studios in the hub of Mile End. They can accommodate everything we need and we are so very grateful and happy to be joining forces with them.

I’m thrilled to announce that our community will live on in the shared space of Equilibrium Yoga Centre at 4812 St Laurent Blvd, Montreal . Your favourite signature HappyTree classes and teachers will be available for you there starting the first week of May.

What you need to know:

Your current membership will be valid and honoured at our new location. Please note that our last day of classes at 4010 Sainte Catherine West will be Sunday, April 22nd.

There will be no massage or holistic services in the new location so please use up your packages before April 22nd .

Trainings for Fall 2018 and Winter of 2019 will continue as planned at our new location.

We hope you will join us in celebrating this new beginning for HappyTree and that we will see you in class very soon. Thank you for your support – past, present and future.

With love and gratitude,

Owner & director, Yoga HappyTree
